Pupils from Tadcaster East Community Primary School will be officially unveiling their brand new ‘Pond and Beyond’ nature project next Friday 7th July at 6pm.
The innovative landscaping project has been created by staff and pupils at the school over the past few months.
The support of local suppliers, including large tyres and railway sleepers from Mone Brothers’ Blackhill Quarry in Bramhope, has played a big part in the creation of the project.
Project Manager and garden designer Ruth Griffin explained: “It will be fantastic to finally officially open the new nature area. A lot of work has gone into the project and we’re grateful to all of the local suppliers who have helped out and all of the parents who have provided much of the manpower.
“We identified the need for a nature area so that children can get out in the great outdoors and see nature up close. The pond will attract wildlife and the plants will attract pollinators over time bringing the whole project to life.”
Craig Morrell, General Manager at Blackhill Quarry, commented: “We were only too happy to throw our support behind this project that allows children to effectively engage with nature in the safety of their own school grounds.”
