We’ve found ourselves in a time, where we’re always looking for the easiest, most stress-free option; this includes the garden. Here at Mone Bros DIY, we have the perfect solution – pebbles. Having pebbles in the garden still allow for you to have a fantastic place to relax, but just cuts the constant hard-work down. So, what process should you follow when buying pebbles?
First of all, it’s important to measure the amount of space which you will be dedicating to the new pebbled area. Using a tape measure, get the exact measurements, as this will help you to know how many pebbles you need. The general rule is a ton of pebbles will cover about 100 square feet at ¾ to 1inch thickness.
Then, clear out the area which you’re going to be putting your pebbles. Brush away any weeds and clear any plants that are currently in the area – this will ensure that they don’t grow underneath your pebbles.
It’s also important to make sure that there is adequate drainage in the garden as precipitation can build up in the pebbles should you not. If you feel that there may be a drainage problem, it could be worthwhile talking to a specialist.
Place a weed mat over the area, this should be placed over the dirt, and will be perfect for the pebbles to rest on. The role of a weed mat is self-explanatory in that it will limit the growth of weeds coming up through the pebbles. It will also ensure that the soil will not mix with the pebbles.
Once you’ve chosen the pebbles which you desire, you’re free to then spread them over the area and design as you see fit, to get the no fuss garden you’re looking for this summer. Using a rake or similar garden tool to spread the pebbles, you’ll soon see an amazing transformation.
